Database Spy Usage

When in design mode does the Database Spy show the values of tags or have you to do something extra. Any tag I have entered here show a value of zero and the connection Quality is good. When used in the program the tags show their true value.

Another problem I have is with tags reading the temperature from a PLC. These have been working up until I decided to do a Verify. This came back with no issues, but I have not been able to get the values from the PLC since then. This is where the Database Spy is confusing as it says the connection is good. The same PLC has other analogue inputs and these are showing up OK. The PLC is not faulty as a touch screen is able to show the temperatures.

Should I just reinstall Indusoft. I also thought that the output window could be cleared by right clicking on it, but this does not give any options.
  • I think your problems with tags are related to Tag Integration. The error you received (ADPRO - Invalid Block Size) has a special note in the driver help file that states if you receive this error on a Main driver sheet or with Tag Integration, to contact technical support.

    Adding text is a little quirky, but manageable. Once I have the first text object created, I will copy it instead of trying to insert a new one.

    To move objects pixel by pixel, I use the Format tab X & Y fields. If you want to move several objects at once, you need to first group them, move them, then ungroup them.

    Generally, during the development phase of the project, I will enable all access for the Guest account so I do not have to Log In/Out to perform certain tasks. Then I will disable access once the project is deployed.
  • The program has done it again. Renamed some of my tags and then removed them from my trend. Spent the morning fixing them and putting them back into the trend. Now my original problem is back with not being able to display the temperature from the compressors. Found that it has duplicated these tags again. Unfortunately when I tried to delete the duplicates they pop back up again. Also some more tags have been renamed and now looking to see if I can fix them. Starting to loose my trust in this program. If it wasn't for the money and time wasted I think I would be searching for a better program
