Mr De_ding. your career seems much guidance invoking. I myself also find the need of career guidance. As we have dsicussed in this forum I am fresher in this field but enough experince with industry production/process (chemical engineer), I desperatly want job in this field. I have done my PDMS (piping/equip/structure etc) & doing my piping engg & design course. I am from India. AS whole world is still in the effect of recession, I do not get opportunity as a fresher over here. Many requires experienced person only. What will be your free suggestion to me?
The thing is.
You can't get an Admin job unless you are an experienced Administrator.
But you can't get the experience because you can't get a job in Admin!
How do you break the cycle?
You can do the courses at Aveva, but you still don't have on the job experience.
I am in this situation and any advice would be appreciated.
This cycle continues not only in PDMS, in PDS, in Piping, in Engineering, in every aspect of people's life. Some people want control because they are scared of losing their jobs, the high paying jobs...
However for me, for every road blocks in my career/life there are probably 5-6 helpers/mentors. Those mentors who were willing to share with me what they know, really get me where I get today. However I have to brag that I have an engineering physics degree and mechanical engineering degree. Otherwise I would not understand what the Cambridge gurus are doing.
Fortunately they(the brains in Cambridge) did not call upon my Quantum Mechanics portion of schooling, that part of education is only good during a bar conversation.
Sir Issac Newton said that he can see further because he is standing on giants' shoulders.
I fully believer that it is human nature to help each other. Hopefully one of those days the scared PDMS admin, or the project engineer or the engineering manager etc will get to learn that by sharing they will receive 1000 times more.
In my case I believe God cannot give me anything when my fists are closed, and the only way I can receive more is open my hands and share with others. Also I cannot give away something I do not own and by giving away knowledge you learn more during the process.
There are many giants in this forum in the waiting to help people like you and me, some has already come out of the closet, some are still waiting, but I know they are here because someone has told me so...
Hi Pavel I was employed by my company NETCO in Nigeria to assist a very busy PDMS administrator, I made a move a few weeks back and asked to be placed on the piping team which I hope will help me develop know how in cats and specs, I am currently the PDMS administrator for an FPSO project, with on the job training handling administration shouldn't be hard (PDMS wouldn't have become so popular if they made it ultra geeky!) This forums a good place to start, lets keep networking!
