PDMS Administrators: Job experience

  • Ok guys...Thank you all for participate...as I see, Cats&Specs is a very delicated area of administration. In my case, Specs documentation of a project is a job that has to be done by someone responsible that does´t know anything about PDMS, so normally it is impossible to get Specs on time to start routing the pipes...I see that the best is to integrate this role in PDMS culture and knowledge. Normally, this document, is always prepared near the end of a project...change of mentallity...
  • Franky,

Cats/spec person has to know PDMS to be able to do their job.  They also have to know piping to be able to perform their duties.  So that make them quite valuable asset on the project.

People like pitch on this forum are hard to come by these days. Most claim they are catalog/spec person(s), but once you open their PDMS catalog, you can see clearly if they know what they are doing.

There is very little one can hide in the digital world.  Of course, don't tell that to the PM or EM or the sales guy, they do not care anyway.
  • Kimi,
Ok. I agree with you when you say it is difficult to find people with so complete profile for projects on both Cats/Specs and Paragon Administration. Anyway, It might  was possible to join both profiles making them work next to each other as a team...mmmm....here a hard issue but necessary to integrate PDMS culture in the company.
Thanks for your advises. I'm developing the full pack for PDMS as administrator...what I see by now is that I never see a while to forget administration...may be in a future after some projects it could be possible to get some free time and face other tasks...
  • Ah, Teamwork.
Now that is an old concept well worth bringing back.
