Viewpoint Americas "News Letter"

  • Dear ViewPoint Americas Users Group Member,

News from Viewpoint Americas 2009 Users' Conference:
Last week’s conference was a great opportunity to visit with longtime friends, as well as getting the opportunity to form new friendships.  For those of you who were unable to attend the conference, you were greatly missed.

First, I would like to thank everyone who attended the conference.  Your positive support and relentless help with the planning thru execution was the reason the conference was a success.

Secondly, with great regret, I need to inform everyone that the decision to disband the Viewpoint Americas Users’ Group was agreed upon during the business meeting.  As with the end to any relationship, there is a feeling of sadness, but I feel we can take this opportunity to start a new direction and I hope you will join me in supporting AVEVA on its efforts to establish the new User Group.

Below are the highlights from the Conference:

    1. Aveva presented their plan for the new Aveva Users’ Group. (See attachment file)
    2. A motion was made to vote on disbanding Viewpoint Americas Users’ Group.   The vote passed by 85% by the user companies in attendance
    3. A motion was made to vote on not have elections and to keep the current Executive Members until the disbanding process was completed (vote passed).
    4. A motion was made to vote to empower the Executive Members to make all necessary decisions regarding the disbanding of the Viewpoint Americas Users’ Group.
    5. Based on the information that Orlando Gallego would not be able to continue as Executive Chairperson of Viewpoint Americas Users’ Group, a motion was made to confirm Mark Bush as Executive Chairperson and David Kriesel as Vice Chairperson of Viewpoint Americas Users’ Group until the user group is completely disbanded (vote passed).
    6. Other information covered in the business meeting.
-----Executive Members plan on using the Viewpoint Americas Users’ Group web page and PDMSWORLD web to communicate updates to the users on the progress with disbanding the User Group (http://www.viewpointamericas.org).

----Executive Members would like your input, over the next few months; on what should be done with the funds that are left over after all the bills have been paid. Please forward your input through PDMSWORLD or directly through email to our Executive Members

This completes the News from Viewpoint Americas 2009 Users' Conference, if have any question please email our Executive Members.

  • Dear ViewPoint Americas Users Group Member,

I wanted to take a few minutes to update everyone on the Executive Members July meeting, but first I would like to make sure you are aware of Aveva’s webinars series and personally invite you to attend one of these webinar.  Click the link “learn more” to personally attend one of these informative webinars. We would like to hear back from you with any comments or concerns.

Now for the highlights from the Executive Members July meeting:

    1. Update to Aveva’s progress with the Aveva User Group development/planning.  At this time Aveva is developing the details around the Aveva User Group and hopes to go public in Q4 2009.
    2. Executive Members are still in the process of discovery on how to disband the current ViewPoint Americas User Group and our next step is to consult with a CPA in Delaware.   Delaware is where the User Group paperwork was filed; you can say our birth place.
    3. On the financial side of the meeting, we reported that all payments due for 2009 expenses have been paid in full, except for any cost that may accrue due to the act of disbanding.   If you would like to review the details on the actual budget, please call one of the Executive Members.
    4. The Executive Members reviewed all suggestions on “what to do with the funds after disbanding” and have developed a short list of two options.  Option 1 - Support PDMSWORLD or Option 2 - Gift to local colleges, i.e., HCCS, San Jacinto or both. We are currently in the discovery process for these options.
    5. The last item pertains to the discussion on the timing of disbanding ViewPoint Americas User Group. There is a concern that ViewPoint Americas User Group should not disband until Aveva’s delivery of the new Aveva User Group. The Executive Members will review this item at our next meeting.

The Executive Members would like to hear your comments or concerns on the items above either directly through PDMSWORLD or email any Executive Member.
