Runtime Error

Hi,
I'm having some issue with my runtime Indusoft V8.0 P3. Sometimes when I try to start my application I get an error message saying "The viewer module could not connect to the run-time. This could happen if the run-time has unexpectedly stopped due to lack of memory or some other internal problem." After that, I need to reboot the computer otherwise there's no way to restart the App.

Does anybody had that before?

  • I had the same problem, how did you solve it?
  • Basically what happens is that when you launch the project the background tasks start (Comm, TCP/IP Server, DB, etc) and then the Viewer launches as a separate application. The Viewer gets the data from the background tasks by operating as a TCP/IP Client which then communicates with the Background tasks (Studio Manager.exe).

    What this sounds like is that the Viewer wasn't able to connect to the background tasks via the TCP/IP Server. This could be for a few reasons. Top issues are:

    -The core runtime crashed. Check in Home>Local Management>Tasks and see if there's anything set to Automatic but not showing as Started. Usually restarting the project fixes this.
    -There is something blocking the connection to the TCP/IP server, which could even affect local Viewers. Make certain there is nothing using or blocking the ports (1234 for local and secure viewers, 80 for Web Thin Clients).
    -Most likely is the Viewer tried to connect before the TCP/IP server is ready. I've run into this before on projects that have tons of stuff happening on startup. Usually the Viewer will reconnect on its own.

    In your LogWin, set the messages to "Display Open/Close," "TCPIP Messages" and "Insert Date/Time." Any info this can provide would be great for troubleshooting your problem.
