Downloading Project Remotely.

Hey guys,

I was just wondering if anyone knew a way to download a project to a target device remotely. The machine is halfway across the world and we're trying to make some screen/tag changes. One option that we we had was sending down a VPN router that we can connect to, but we were looking at different options for contingency.

Would I be able to say use TeamViewer on a PC on site, connected to the HMI and somehow make the changes that way? Because of how the Indusoft License for 8.1 is tied to my PC, it probably wouldn't work out, but I'm wondering if anyone's done something similar in the past to make it work.

You would have 40 hours of evaluation mode on the remote PC.

Hey Norman,

Thanks for your reply. If we made the changes in evaluation mode would that change any of the Indusoft licensing on the machine? For example would the remote server on the machine timeout after the allocated time shutting down the interface?

Generally speaking, no. There should be a runtime license (hard or soft key) on the machine. As long as you use a compatible InduSoft version (licenses are backward compatible, a v8 license will work for a v7 project, but a v8 project will not run with a v7 license) and do not change any of the settings related to the license (tag level(150,300,1500,4k, etc.), target type(windows vs. embedded), etc.), everything should be fine.
