email questions

I was wondering what kind of experience people have with using Email from Indusoft in situations where the connectivity may be sporadic.

We are using Indusoft in trucks that work across Australia and wont have good 3G connectivity.

This raises a few issues with Emails with respect to the connection to the email server and trying to send emails when there is no connection.

With a traditional email client like outlook this would be handled by the client caching the email and sending it at a later date when there is a suitable connection, however I'm not sure that Indusoft does this.

anyone got any thoughts on this matter?
  • Indusoft will keep in the buffer any message that does not get sent unless you tell it do delete failed messages in the buffer. That is why in the subject we always embed the date/time of the message. We recently had an issue with Sprint holding messages for 60 minutes at a time, then they would send a few, then hold again for another 60 minutes. We had messages being delivered 14 hours after they were sent.
