Today is the 40th anniversary of NASA moon landing.
40 years ago, USSR and America were in cold war.
40 years ago, PDMS did not exist,
and 40 years ago, I did not exist either.
40 years ago, China was in the midst of culture revolution where the self-made messiah caused havoc that actually killed more than WWII.
China was also on the brink of nuclear annihilation by USSR (the socialist big brother) but saved by USA (the perceived evil nation, not because it wanted to).
Today China and the BRIC nations owns half of USA... I do not want to repeat what everyone can read on news.
There is a saying in Chinese "三十年河东，三十年河西” meaning what was true 30 years ago, may not hold water 30 years later.
I am taking very good note of history because it has a tendency of repeating itself, and we mortals are have a very short memory. I hope the software giants do as well.
Hi, de_ding thanks for the career advice, and your big heart, come to think of it if Tim Berners Lee hadn't decided to give the web for free to the world, all this would cost us a fortune, perviously you mentioned having work on the two largest projects in the world at the time you started out in PDMS, just wondering what they were.
Thank you for your kind words and encouragement. If I were to pursue my PHD, I probably would have probably applied for job at CERN (an no doubt that I will not get) since it was every nerd's dream to find out about the origin of universe.
I am glad that I did not because engineering pays more :-)
