• We were beginners @ some point of time in PDMS. I'm sure we'll be in many other areas / softwares that we do not know now but may need to (learn). Still there are annoying posts by "experienced" users in the beginners forum when actually a helping hand is needed. Its all typical and there's a disparaging remark @ the end:angry:.

'tis better to remember that we still are deficient in some areas that is why we seek help and guidance on this forum and the forum prospers:whoohoo:.

Better to remember that knowledge and not the location decides superiority. It'll be better not to post (when you do not intend to share) than putting in a discouraging comment.
  • Tissue?

I do hear what you are saying but it exists in some form on almost every forum I am a member of.

Welcome to the internet where keyboard warriors prevail.
  • One of the problems we seem to have is that the new users are not using the search facility before asking questions.
It does start to get a little annoying when you are answering the same questions over and over and over again.
  • Hi
My rant is against 'Low cost centres' as you have probably seen on this forum, and probably the reason for your 'Rant'
My view is that 'low cost centres' are killing the pdms industry with regards to 'users' want free training on this forum. If aveva want pdms used in these remote countries then provide some training centres.......
  • The purpose was not to stir up the topic but sometimes you feel better by putting it across the board.

By any means, this part is no preaching:
For a doctor, a wound is just another wound but for the patient it does hurt. And if the doctor does not feel a thing then it just puts the patient off.

And the low cost centers, are a byproduct of money-crunching managers. All they understand is greenbacks. So there's not much to do.

Of course, the forum and PDMS are great. Thats why I keep returning here.
  • I agree with you about the managers.
A company I worked for recently had only just bought PDMS and although they had no projects to use it on they were actively investigating the best way to outsource the design work.
    Beggars belief really.
  • Yes, the topic in itself is huge. Without digressing from the main NO RANT on Experience, it in fact is the invention of "High Cost" location managers to do outsourcing to perhaps get a promotion. These are annoying things. Especially when you have to do a lucrative overseas project because the money is great and the project is not. There are many good domestic projects to work on but commerce takes the cake and the cherry.

Perhaps, there's a better solution on the beginner's typical annoying posts. I found it on the another forum I'm member of : pipingdesigners.com. They have written simple tutorials on piping basics which are a good read. Maybe someone here on this forum needs to warm up to this idea.

    I agree with you.

I face such problem here but I just ignore those members who forget that they were once an absolute newbie. They got blinded by their ego.

And I help others according to my ability.

Anyways, I would like to share an article with you:
