How do you cope with PDMS self learning?

  • [QUOTE=relaxtoday;39194]I learn PDMS mostly on my own, through the manuals of course.
I understand that sometimes it's very hard to digest what I learn and there are thousand of pages to learn all of the modules.
It's not unusual for me to stay up late at night to learn.

I have my coffee to bear with it.

Learning PDMS by yourself with the manuals is good basics but very limited, the only way to progress is to sit with others (experienced users) and bounce your questions off them, if they let you?
  • [QUOTE=relaxtoday;39198]It's great that you have such luxury.
And also.... they can't help you when you don't self learn first right?

If your're a one man band learning PDMS from manuals, you have no chance.......blunt but true (no offence intended)
This is where aveva comes into its own, by either making traning affordable and local or by having video training via the internet.
I personally believe it depends on what you want to do with the program? Are you wishing to make a career in Administartion or a career in design or a 'jack of all trades'?
  • From what you say you seem quite advanced in admin creation/manipulation, next step is to apply this on 'live' projects (I don't know if you are already doing this ?) from there it is literally trial & error, over time competance will rule.
Good luck and I'm sure this forum will continue to help you in your progress.

  • I recall that there are PDMS Admins on this forum who are self trained.

I myself is setting up projects, determining the naming convention, creating DB and MDB, and stuff like that.
    I'm still learning.

I believe we can agree to disagree.  :-)

Not every person has the ability to self-learn, I believe.

    Thank you.
I believe the forum members heard your point loud and clear.
and I think we shouldn't digress too far away from the thread topic, as we are talking about how to cope with self learning.
I'm still learning. I don't claim myself to be good.
