I really underestimated the power of PDMS when I first saw it. But getting into the admin part was what made me understand the implications of everything behind it. It really is a powerful tool, given it's been configured and used right, of course. But sometimes I wish users would understand that it's not just a matter of pushing a button and getting the results. It's often difficult to make new users (by new i mean those who've NEVER heard of PDMS) understand that.
I think learning is the best part of the admin job. Learning, putting it into practice and see others benefit from it. I remember our trainer on the first day: "You will never know everything about PDMS..." How effing true!!
I have been PDMS Admin for the last 15 years both in EPC and Aveva. If you love PDMS , it doesnt matter where you work. You will learn new ways of doing stuff everyday
As mimimi mentioned , "You will never know everything about PDMS..."
@ChennaiGuru, Thanks a lot... you have to enjoy your job to be able to do it for good like you did in last 15 years :) but where did you have more achievements? Where did you learn more? Aveva or EPC?
@sraeisi, I would say, I learned equally in both places.
In todays world, PDMS alone cannot do your full engineering. There are other associated products like Aveva net, review, navisworks, etc etc. both developed by Aveva and other Vendors. If you want to learn more about all AVEVA developed products , the AVEVA is the right choice. If you want to learn more on the other competitive products, EPC may be the right choice
