Spooling is a piping term used to describe the distance between the ff:
1. Fitting to Fitting e.g. elbow to reducer, elbow to elbow, valve to reducer etc.
2. Fittings to Nozzle
A standard governs this choice which is: For fittings of NP<= 6, the minimum spool lenght used is 3inches. But for Pipe sizes above > NPS6, the minimum pipe spool lenght to be used must be (1 * Pipe NPS). So for NPS 8, we have a minimum pipe spool lenght of 8 inches and so on.
