The first time PDMS was shown in the USA was in December 1976 in a Chicago hotel meeting room. Prime Computer loaned us a Prime 400 (256Kb memory, 80Mb disk), Tektronix supplied a T4014 display teminal and Calcomp came up with a 936 pen-plotter. The computer setup is here http://www.flickr.com/photos/54731504@N04/13031474193/in/photostream
Doing the presentations we had representatives of the CADCentre and Isopipe, some of whom are seen here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54731504@N04/13031319985/
The presentations were by invitation only, but sadly I cannot remember who they were given to. There were two sessions a day, presenting something that the invitees had never seen the like of before, and often did not believe could be done -- and then the team retired to the bar feeling pretty exhausted. That introduction went well, and within 6 months there was a dedicated sales company set up in Spring Lake Nj, headed by by Owen Parker, with *** Newell and Mike Causer to assist. Here is Owen in the somewhat low-rent office of Bricad Inc.: http://www.flickr.com/photos/54731504@N04/13031311775/
Bricad's exclusive rights for PDMS in North America were taken over by Compeda in 1979 (-ish), which wound up in the hands of Prime Computer in 1983, but that was after I'd moved on.
yes, and maybe they will give me a new card (I never did get an AVEVA one). There are quite a few people with significantly longer service than me, but retirements are gradually happening!
AVEVA is really master is PLANT engineering....PDMS has solved many of the problems..recent developments like integration with other softwares is also very nice...Really Hatsoff to AVEVA...
