For me its challenge. Basically I am hard core piper, 12 years ago when I learned PDMS, I realize strength of this software. Still I noticed that in many reputed companies PDMS is just used as modeling tool, they really don't use its real intelligence. So I entered in Admin field and make my life more easy as Piping Area Lead.
By the way I am lucky enough that I got opportunity to learn Admin activities in Chemplant Services a small company having PDMS licence, with small team in Piping and Structural.
I think if you explore something new in this software. then you realize that there are many more things that you can do with this software.
the capability of software is far more than we imagine & getting more salary is the main thing as compared to PDMS modeller.
For me i have started my career as piping designer to some point i realised i not doing something new and i got the opportunity to switch my job to PDMS admin.
Now its more challenging and development daily and i am learning new things everyday.
Job is so satisfactory but still struggling to learn PML2 but i love this role.
I think this position is fo the people who want to challenge themselves everyday and solve problems on daily basis and be happy and satisfied at the end of the day!
today's problems are the foundation for tomorrow's problems.
and solving problems makes us happy.
so I think there are many ppl who get attracted to this field because they can see the current admins are happy.
its a continuous self improvement process!
