Does Aveva has any plan to offer more solid option to work remotely?

• Considering the current epidemic and companies looking into wok remotely, this is very much necessary.
Our company is evaluating and we E3D users can't able to do this :culpability:
• Yeah. We're used Aveva (pre-E3D) remote both via VPN such that the resources are mapped (servers) and via MS Remote Desktop. Both solutions are far from great (especially compared to Aveva competitor software). I also woulnd be very interested in hearing from other's solutions.
• Global is very good solution for this.
Now many users are using Citrix Which is serving the same purpose
• my experience because of epidemic in france, work at home with :

- adsl internet link with download : 14 mb/s and upload : 0.7 mb/s
- vpn access
- pdms on company servers on cloud

result : for admin task and some modifications on 3d model in design --> it could be done (just hope not many pdms error).
• I have just spoken with an italian customer last week.
They were experiencing latency and low performances using a VPN.
So I suggested Citrix.
They called me back and told me it works ok now.
• result after a week at home :

- design --> ok
- admin --> ok
- paragon --> ok
- isodraft --> ok but very slow approximatively 2min for 1 iso
- draw --> nok after 2h for an update view i have to kill the process. so what i do : copy all project on my hard disk and run draw on local machine. run fine just be sur to keep your local db uptodate

HTH because work at home shoub be longer than expected .... *** corona ...
• Dear corrado,

can you share the experience how to use Citrix?
my company also want to change to wfh.

Thanks,
• I personally have no experience.
I have italian customers that do that with positive results.
I would suggest to contact your local Aveva Office.
• We have been using Citrix as a remote location option inour company and it?s been SOOO much faster getting in and out of the program.Splash-screen time is less than a minute for me working from home when loggingin through Citrix. This is a huge improvement from 4-6 min splash-screen timeif working locally. Piping in E3D is a breeze. In Paragon I see littleimprovement in performance once you get the program open. However, for usCitrix has been 100% worth it.
I do however have something negative to say about it -only because I havenot been able to Find workarounds:
1. Hard to clear USERDATA folder when encountering visual glitches anbugs. Best to do this afterhours when all the users are out of thesoftware. This brings me to another point that is potentially causing the abovementioned bugs and that?s the fact that users do not exit all Aveva softwarenightly and let programs run overnight and even for weeks at a time in somecases. Sometime, the user will exit as recommended but for some reason I seehis/her sessions still ?hanging? the next day. Not entirely sure why that ishappening.

2. Customization of software doesn?t save. When I was inE3D on Citrix today ? I have created a custom button. I saved my work andopened a new session of E3D on the exact same Citrix server and the button Ihave previously created was gone. In the same manner, any user setting that Iset ? does not save. Users login to the same virtual machine and I assume it simplyoverwrites files that I have created prior. If anybody know a workaround onthis topic ? I would be forever grateful.
3. You can?t drag and drop a text file saved on yourlocal machine into your command line while working in Citrix. But there areother ways of doing it of course ? copy and paste your text is one option. Anotheroption is using the File name preceded by $M/ which works prettygood too. This is no big deal just worth mentioning I think.
