Greetings From Leica Geosystems

• Hello All,

Leica Geosystems is proud to be a part of this terrific forum for AVEVA PDMS users.  Our goal is to deliver the best in class as-built technology product line that equips you to have the highest possible productivity.  For this goal to be fully realized it is important to have an effective two-way interaction between technology developers and knowledgeable customers.  This is where PDMSWorld.com plays an important role in enabling this conversation.

Like many of you, I am an engineer.  My experience includes 2 years of pressure vessel design, 10 years of industrial structural engineering, and approximately 11 years of process piping design.  Along the way I also worked on many nightmarish retrofit projects, where existing plant documentation was almost nonexistent.  So I fully understand on a personal level the importance that this technology serves.

In future posts I will be providing some information on two really cool features that have just been added to our newly released Leica CloudWorx for PDMS Version 1.1.

New CloudWorx for PDMS Version 1.1 Features:
5 Level Quick Pick Density Control
Flange Work Point tool.
I look forward to talking to many of you in the very near future.

Best Regards,
Derrel

• Hi Derrel, good to see Leica's presence back in this forum!

Although we are not using laser scan data right now, I think very soon down the road, this will be way how as-is data is captured and used in engineering office.

I really liked the dynamic clipbox tool developed by Leica PDMS interface that allow users to define clipping volume on-the-fly.  This utility existed in the PASCE long time ago (TDWIN SECT) but Cadcentre/Aveva never bothered to add a few line of codes in their appware to make it happen.

Your technical bullentin that explains this technology really brought me up-to-speed before when I was first exposed to point cloud data.  Really look forward to reading your future articles.
• Hello De and mg2794,

It’s great to be on this forum and thank you for the welcome.

Regarding a guide, sometime next week I hope to begin a new thread where I will provide a series of recommended user work process posts.  This is intended to help users get the most value from as-built point cloud data with Leica CloudWorx for PDMS.

Thanks for your comments and great suggestions.
• Hi Derrel;
I will be so Proud for joining you in this huge forum.
I think you can help many of users that require a software for Modeling an existing part of plant same as Revamp projects,
Would you please introduce a guide for knowing your way?
