• Nice stuff :)

What do you gain by transforming a pipe into equipment model? Is it so you can send it to someone else just for clash check?
  • Hello art125,

It is really good stuff to see, I have some queries for you on your work hope you will not bother to answer
    1) PDMS BOLT : You have added bolt in PDMS it is really good to see more detail modelling in Engineering can you please explain
    a) Have to loaded these bolt in spec the same way as we load normal piping components or there is different procedure for that.
    b) User will select required bolts or these bolts will appear automatically and user will be continue working normally before i.e. without bolt.

    2) PIPE2EQUI : Quiet interesting but what is advantage in doing this I am wondering.

    3) PDMS2CAD : Will AutoCAD user can use this model for any modification in AutoCAD i.e. is this model intellegent or just representative?

    Waiting for your reply.
  • yes. clash check is one of the reason.

Another reason is that sometimes we just need to send the geomerty to some other company, in this way, I don't need any cata db to be included. Aslo, transforming model between different pdms version become easy.

    PDMS BOLT:

The main purpose for me to create this bolt tool is to find out catalogue mistakes, eg. bolt numbers or bolt diameters of tow connected flanges in design are not the same, or the two connected components are not aligned in design, or some bolted components don't have RPRO FLTH ... . Bolt model is just a byproduct.

This bolt tool only work for NEW bolts. User can choose site/zone/pipe/bran to check bolt connects and create bolt model.

    PDMS2CAD:

No intellegent from PDMS 3D to AutoCAD 3D. but profiles of some PDMS elements, like SCTN/GENSEC/PANE/GENSEC/EXTR/REVO/NXTR/NBOX/NCYL/NREVO ...  can be transfered into autocad 2D with intellegence. Any change made in autocad will be applied to the related PDMS elements. I will post some pictures  for this feature.
  • PIPE2EQUI : can u please tell me how u have done. it should be use full  for all of us.

    Thank you art125 for information.
  • That's great!
About 'transfer pipe model to equiment model' I was thinking to do the same few month ago.
Me too I'm massively into PML programming.
I modelled some Flares with pipe then I was thinking it would be useful to convert them to equi.
I can see from the image that you translated PIPE with EQUI and branch with SUBE, that is the same I was thinking to do.
How did you manege coordinates and orientation? This is the main problem in my mind.
All branch member primitives has local coordinetes and orientation.
And what about torus? The definition of this primitive is quite different in paragon.
