1. Be courteous to others when posting: One fact of being a moderator is that now your actions will reflect back on the forum, on other moderators and myself personally so please be considerate of that when posting. When becoming moderators we do gain a lot of power but we are also the first ones to give up the most as well. Being a moderator requires that we set an example to others here on the forum day in and day out.
2. Extinguish flare ups when they arise: Personal attacks and such on members will not be tolerated so if you see any that occur feel free to SOFT DELETE their post an PM them to explain that what was said will not be tolerated.
3. Respond to threads with zero responses: If you happen to come across any threads with zero responses please take the time to respond to them in any way shape or form. Even if it's small talk chit chat stuff. This little bit of interaction may help us retain the poster as an active member and help us grow. I've been to other forums in the past where I got no replies on a thread I created and just didn’t feel welcomed so I never went back. I do not want this to occur here.
4. Help keep forum organized: All that is required is to be sure posted threads are in their proper location etc. If one is in the wrong section, simply move it over to the correct section. Anytime you move a thread the original poster will be notified via PM automatically so there is no need to contact them yourself.
5. Make sure everyone is playing nicely: Everyone from a very beginner to a seasoned professional pdms user is welcomed here on the forum. Keep an eye out for people posting in a harsh manner towards newbies that are new to pdms. This can be a complete turnoff for the newbie and he may decide to never return. Not Good. I don't think kind of thing happens here like it does on other forums but I have to note it.
6. As of now there are no assigned sections per moderator: Right now as it stands moderators are free to roam anywhere they feel like and keep an eye out on things. Please don't feel obligated that you need to visit every single section etc in order to check things out.
7. Commercial advertising is not allowed: Any and all commercial advertising is not allowed. We now have a sponsors section setup. If you see any spammers online selling ipods etc feel free to SOFT DELETE the thread immediately. No advertisements for software, classes, stores are allowed to be in people's signatures unless they are a forum sponsor. If you find a signature that violates this rules, edit it and PM them informing them that it is not allowed and to contact me in order to get details on advertising.
8. Two Moderator Rule When Deleting Threads: We have the 2 Mod Rule in place which pretty much states that any moderator will need the approval of at least one other moderators in order to SOFT DELETE a thread. This rule of course can be bypassed if the thread in question is completely blatant and obivously needs to be removed. This is a form of Checks and Balances to help police ourselves.
7. What about telling users about free software that may help them out, and where they can download it?
No problem with that. These rules are just a rough set of guidelines. All you moderators have good judgement so I trust you all to do the right things anyway.
