• The product for 3D model export is Aveva ExPlant_A
This comes from the product manual:

The AVEVA ExPLANT-A Export Driver allows the user to extract 3D geometric models from
DESIGN databases and output them to a Drawing Interchange File (DXF or binary DXF).
The resulting file can then be used to import 3D graphics models into AutoCAD or into other
systems that can read DXF format files.

If your customer is only interested in having a 2D drawing but that "...adheres to their AutoCAD standard for drafting including layering, borders, etc." you could export PDMS drawings from Draft Module in a "configurable" dxf/dwg format.
  • Hi, just wondering if any PDMS users / admins / experts out there have any experience of exporting PDMS model files to AutoCAD format? I have a client that is asking us to present the information not only in an AutoCAD viewable format but in a way that adheres to their AutoCAD standard for drafting including layering, borders, etc.
    Any ideas would be great!
  • Thanks for this Corrado. We are using this method to extract the info.
One of the issues we are experiencing is with dimensions. When we use the DXF output, the resultant dimensions are static in AutoCAD. Is there a way to make the dimensioning associative so the drawing file is truly editable?
    Regards

  • If I am not wrong, 2D drawings dimensions are exported with both "Measurement" and "Text Override" Autocad dimension properties set.
You should delete (empty) the second property in Autocad.
Check, try and let us know please..
