Google Sketch up is a 3D software tool that is used a lot with Google Earth elements like Landmarks etc. There is also a huge downloadable library available of general components like, cranes, boats, trucks etc, that I hoped would be usefull in populating some of our Review models
There are some possible multi-step routes - though the effort and quality may not be worth the trouble - some Sketchup models rely on images on faces rather than solid-models of details.
I experimented with some Sketchup plugins to create STL files, which can then be read by AVEVA's ImPLANT-STL, read into PDMS, and then exported to a review file... You can extra steps to the process by using some of the extra export formats in Sketchup Pro, eg 3DS Max, and use that associated application to create STL.
From what I have read, the STL to get by these routes is not a complete solid model, so ImPLANT-STL will probably just create lots of POGOs, which will not produce a wonderful Review model. I may also have missed other possibilities of getting STL into Review, I don't know all the Review import possibilities
[QUOTE=Mitch;34742]Thanks Tim, was worth an ask. Will continue to add in native PDMS format.
Is there a share area that we could build a library here?
It is a good idea.
There are a few vehicles models in the forum already. It would be great if we could browse all available PDMS models in some kind of library.
