Z+f pointcloud data to Navisworks or Review

Hi,

Does anyone know if this can be done?

I have all of the latest Navisworks modules, Review Reality modules, PDMS modules and LFM software.

The pointcloud data is very big - it is on an external 1000 gig high speed drive, and almost fills this.

For the cloudpoint data, I have a whole bunch of files such as; .alk .ano .cfg .lfr .lwk .lfd .points .int files.

I can currently bring the point cloud data into PDMS via lfmServer.exe, but would really like to see the bigger picture.

Am i living in dream land, or can this be done????

You can use ZF and AVEVA Review if you would like.  I don't really understand your question though.

I am currently working on a job for a large offshore rig that was built 35ish years ago.
We are in the process of designing 2 new large modules to replace some of the existing ones.

There is essentially no 3D model of the existing platform (with the exception of a little bit of primary steelwork that the struccie's have built from the existing drawings).

We do however have the Z&f (.lfd and .points) from a recend laser scan.
These are linked via lfmserver to the PDMS model. This is great for modelling some of the tie-in's for specific locations, but not so great for visualising the platform in whole.

In short, what I am essentially trying to do is create a new .rvm, or .nwd file showing the cloudpoint data so that I can open it in either review and include other files exported form PDMS showing the brownfield scope.

Is this possible, and if so how do I do it????

Hi, we are using Leica Cloudworx to view the pointcloud files in PDMS. May i know how to export & view this pointcloud files in Navisworks freedom? I have Navisworks manage 2011.

Is there anyway to export the laser scan (XGEOM) INTO NAVISWORKs with the .rvm file?

No it is not possible. RVM files manage 3D elements only.

I think Naviswork can import laser data directly

I have just checked with my colleague Graham ( Laser Survey guru :-) ) : "Point Cloud Manager (previously known as LFM Server) has a CADlink to Navisworks so although you cannot export the XGEOM in the RVM you can access the point cloud in NAVISWORKS. So you can export your PDMS/E3D model to RVM and load up the point cloud in NAVIS"

Regarding this CADlink to navisworks, what is it? Another licence ? I've neve done something similar
