Linking Excel File Attributes to Navisworks

I am trying to link an excel file to Navisworks, to display the Attributes.

There is a wesite that shows how to do this:

However, it works fine in the Exampl, but the moment I try it on my own project, the Attributes does not get displayed in the Properties box.

I followed the SELECT SQL statement exactly (substituting for my variables), but nothing appears.

Is there something else to the Data Tools linking.

Don't these attrubutes exist in the PDMS model itself ?

Not all possible/useful attributes already exist in the PDMS model. It would be useful for a contractor to apply new attributes to a designer model for example. I have found a way to do it with the iConstruct add in for Navisworks but I'm still wondering why I can't get the excel link to work through data tools....?

Save the excel document as .csv and change the prefix to .att
This way it's read automatically as NavisWorks opens (if you have the .att box ticked)

The document would have to be set out correctly...
