E3D: Export rvm and txt attribute file to Navisworks

 

I think it is a setting in Navis that has to be ticked so it will read the attribute file.

 

Open your att files and Save with Encoding 'ANSI' then try....

Have you tried posting it on a Navisworks forum (autodesk community forums or augi)? Maybe you'll get some hint there.

no I haven't. havent had much luck with Autodesk forums in the past

i wrote a macro to export out only the attributes needed for us.  You just need to make sure you the header in a certain format.

So get the header right then do a collection of what you want and output them like the one shown.

thanks for the suggestion but the thing is I want to use the standard E3D facility. I don't want to write a macro when its not really required

Not sure about E3D but in 12.1.SP2

generate an RVM file in the usual manner - using the export file command - call it whatever.rvm
generate an attribute file using the utilities > export > dump attributes GUI - call it whatever.att

place both of these files in the same folder and open the RVM file in Navisworks - attributes should be available

colours can be mapped but you need to create RULES file in AVEVA and color file in navisworks.
