Pdms/e3d navisworks - guid

  • Can someone advise us?

We are working with a construction company building a chemical plant. It was designed in PDMS and the construction company receives only the Navisworks files.

The owner would like to have the model in an on-line viewer / FM system with all the key information available (line #, equipment #, valve # etc.) and links to all associated documentation. Many on-line systems have the capability to upload 3D models from native CAD systems like Revit and from Navisworks. Uploading the model for visual review is easy, but these FM systems use the GUIDs on objects to import the required information.

Most CAD systems produce a GUID for each object. But we cannot see any GUIDs in the PDMS Navisworks model. What we?d like to know is ?does PDMS have the capability of producing a GUID or is this simply not done??

Any help will be much appreciated.
  • Conceptually, GUID equivalent in PDMS would be: DBREF which can be queried in PDMS as such by using command Q REF. However, the PDMS attribute export may need some tweaks to get this value exported by default.
