In previous versions of PDMS, when selecting an element, the Design Explorer would navigate to the CE, when expanding the CE the form would do its best to include the children of the CE in the viewing area, and now, if you happen to need to expand something else under it, if it is on the bottom of the viewing area, it just stays there and you have to find the scroll bar to see the children.  Is there a setting that would allow Design Explorer to go back to the old way? By the way, I am using PDMS 12.1.SP5.

Did this nice functionality go away between 11 and 12 and I just noticed it?  Or did we lose it between service packs in 12?

Try changing the explorer settings. Should be drop down menu Settings>Explorer... On the "General" tab make sure the "Expand to CE option is ticked". Hope this helps.

Nope, tried that.  The 'CE' does stay in the view, but in the old days, when you clicked on the + it would expand and include all of the children in the view (moving your CE up as necessary) now it doesn't bother with this.

True, Its funny, I learned Design using the explorer, and learned Draft using the Members list.  Hardly ever think to use the other in the other!
