    Has anyone sucessfully found a program to nest plate from PDMS ? We need to maintain tracability of material and track changes within the plate order.

    Hey, that sounds like detective work.  Could you decribe your "nest plate". It should be interesting to see such things evolving.

    Plate nesting is usually a Shipbuilding activity...
    But I guess your company doesn't work in the Marine business.

    Some softwares can do nesting e.g tekla.
    The way it works is you specify the dimension of plates to be nested and the respective quanities.select the right plate thickness & it does the nesting for you.
    it is used to determine how how many smaller bits of plates( could be stiffeners, padeyes,node plates etc ) that a standard plate (say 3m by 12m) can accomodate. This helps construction guys to be able to quantify the total no of plates to purchase.
    I once heard that Pdms marine can do the same.
