    Hi

I am currently building PDMS specs from Smartplant Reference data Spec output. (I am doing this manually, as the 'PDMS Output' does not work 'thanks Intergraph!'). However, in SPRD commodity code Idents are applied to each component by size and this is used as our SPREF in Spec build. One issue I have is that when applied to Bolting, an Ident number (SPREF Name) is assigned not only to bolt type and diameter, but to length as well.
PDMS places the Bolt item then caluculates the length dependant on situation. I need a way of reporting the Ident number based on length.... any ideas? (Other than use VPRM!)

    Thank you

This is defined/stored in the LTAB (length table).

Read about alternative item codes in the manual or read the bolting guide I posted on this site

    Hi Pitch,

I have looked at the bolting manual you wrote and see I can assign a UDA to the LTAB to populate with the commodity code. However, the commodity code (Ident Number) generated changes per spec and material used, so in say 10 specs I get 10 different commodity codes. If addressing this at the Spref I see no problem, but for this to be added at the :stocka1, 2, 3 how does PDMS see the difference as all specs point to the same LTAB? How is the cc reported back on Isodraft?

thanks in advance for your assistance.

In my case the Ident number changes according to Material  and so I have a DTAB/LTAB for each material. In the spec the Boltref name is also dependant on the material and points to the correct LTAB My bolt spec name does not in itself affect the ident.

Hi Pitch, (or should I say New Bolting Guru)

I am going to create a new LTAB for each Commodity code, then assign the unique Ident to each DTAB using a UDA! I wondered if you would be kind enough to post a screen shot example of your layout.

Thanks again for your quick response.
    Mitch
