new bolting method/ONE DIA ONLY FOR TWO OR MORE SIZE OF FLANGE

  • hi all

i want to create a "bolt spec " to  use new method.

    my question is :

only one diameter for any SPCO is permissible ? am i right?

with above condition, if flange 150#-rf-2" has 16 mm" bolt thk " and 4-NO and flange 150#-rf-4" also 16 mm "bolt thk" and 8-NO. then:

what would be the boltref of  16MM-BDIA for spco in bolt spec for example ISBBJ or ISBBN ??

because these BOLTREFs have different lengthes?

    please somebody clear me

    many thanks
  • You are mixing methods.
ISBBJ and ISBBN are "OLD" method references.

NEW method you should have created BLTAbles with BLISts containing SBOLs for individual diameters.
The BOLTref you use is the SBOL for the diameter you require.
PDMS will calculate the length with reference to the LTAB you have also created.

Read the User Guide published on this site, and try "search". We have had lots of Q & As on this
  • Dear Pitch

thank you very much, your hint made me more clear. i would be very thankful if you guide me more. that if i undestand right?
as you said i should create one SBOL for a bolt dia for ex: SBOL /AAA for diameter 12.7mm AND create bolt spec with spco with boltref /AAA for that dia and in that SBOL i should refer a DTAB with all available length for 12.7 mm bolts. after all refer my pipe specs to this bolt spec.then two question please:

1-if in new SBOL that i must create to refer, attributes like NOFF and LENGTH should be set or null.?
2-in SCOM of flange BLTP has attribute  Bdia. if this should be exactly the same with /AAA attrib? for example if one 16 and another 15.88 any error would produce?
    3-extra length = 2* nut thk + gas thk+ (telorance) ?

    thanks dear Pitch ,
  • 1. Null  (or set Noff 0 Length 0.0)
    2. Should use the same 15.88 ( see Diameter Table in the Guide for settings and explanation)
    3. 2 * nut + tolerance  (Gasket thickness is added by PDMS when it calculates the length)
  • dear Pitch

    thanks
    i do all
i get isometric and it is good but when i insert a spectacle between flanges my isometric show error message and no bolt would exist, the error is that" isometric can calculate bolt for spec"
for spectacle scom if what should be BLTH FOR ANY BLTP?
can you guess what is error?
    thanks
  • spectacle plate does not have a boltref.
it is classed as a wafer fitting with connection points P1 & P2 starting with "W"
PDMS will add the length to the bolt when it does the calculation
