• Hi,

I think I have the same Problem as ATANCAD with his thread "Removing Bolt From Material List".

The Problem is: I have nozzles with tapped bolts, so I want the nuts and washers shown on the isometric and in the BOM, but not the tapped-bolts.

To get the washers and nuts I think I have to create the tapped-bolt (with NUT and WASH in the SBOL), but now?
    How to suppress the tapped-bolt?

Or is there any other way?
  • You need to have TAP bolts type at NOZZ Category BTSE.
And then in your Bolt Spec you need to have SPCO elements with TAP selector. Pointing to SBOL with no nuts and washers.

  • Hi corrado,

thank you for your quick answer.

    Done.

Well, I might have misunderstood something, but: I need to have the nuts and washers on the iso and in the BOM, but not the bolts...
  • I am at the end of the fourth consecutive week of training to customers.....luckly busy busy busy!!!
I hope I will find some spare time in the forthcoming week...
  • no problem - as long as you have a solution for me :-)
  • I think I have been able to manage this.
    First of all.
I have set TAP bolts type at BTSE level into the NOZZ Category.
    Then....
In my Bolt Spec I have added SPCO elements with TAP selector but with NO[/U] Bolt Reference.
Description and material could be something like: Set made of 1 HEAVY HEX NUT and 1 WASHER ASTM A194 Gr.2H (ZINC. COATED)

But even if I have not pointed to any SBOL in my TAP element SPCOs, Isodraft would calculate the total length of Flan thickness + Gasket thickness + Nozzle Flange thickness (i.e. for a 150# RF 4" connection: 24 + 3 + 24 = 51mm)
Giving a result similar to: 51 Set made of 1 HEAVY HEX NUT and 1 WASHER ASTM A194 Gr.2H (ZINC. COATED)
In order to remove length information, I have changed Bthkness of BLTP elements of BTSE of Nozzle from (RPRO FLTH) to a very high negative value: (-1000)
    Isodraft calculates 24 + 3 -1000 = -973
As a consequence of this negative value, Isodraft removes the bolt length info....I don't know why... :-)
So, at the end of this story, on the material list I have : Set made of 1 HEAVY HEX NUT and 1 WASHER ASTM A194 Gr.2H (ZINC. COATED)

  • And here the problem starts: I have nuts and washer with unique SAP ID-Code and I can't order them as set...
I probably could somehow, but that means a lot of stupid bureaucratic work (SAP...).

So just modify the RTEX to 'HEAVY HEX NUT'
Then at SPCO level you DO point to a SBOL where BITEM is WASH (no lenght).
Create new SPCO elements with WASH BTYP selector.
The detail text could be something like just 'WASHER'
On your isometric you will have two different entries.
One for Nuts and one for Washers
    ...so two different bl....y SAP ID-Codes.... ;-)

  • Hi Corrado,

thank you very much for your help, but... ;-)

I think this is a good solution for a lot of situations but I can't use this system.

Thanks again for your help, but I think the best way to solve this would be a hard coded bolt selector, e.g. like FTAP (fixed tapped bolt) which indicates an already existing bolt at component (filter, heat-exchanger, ...) which ignores the bolt in the material list...maybe I should put it on the wish-list...
Do I win a price when I have the most entries in the wish list? ;-)
  • Thanks again!
I will try as soon as I'm back from holiday!!
(If I remember how to use PDMS and how to find the office)
