I've manage to create a penetration with the aveva standard hole. I want to make aveva to read automaticaly the dimension of the hole from a negative geometry created in the component category. Is it possible?
If you read C:\AVEVA\Plant\PDMS12.0.SP6\Manuals\Docs\Design Common Functionality User Guide.pdf chapter A.1 Multi Disciplinary Penetration:
Each type of penetration is a selectable catalogue item (or an instance of a design template)
whose dimensions are parameterised in such a way that they can be derived automatically
from the dimensions of the component which passes through the hole.
You could probably create a positive primitive in the component category as it was an obstruction/reserved area.
But I am not sure what is your aim.

I guess your sleeve has positive geometry.
The Hole Management application should derive automatically the diameter of the hole from the geometry of the sleeve, as written in the document here above.
Does it work? If not, could you please post some pictures?
Sorry. I have tested it in the standard SAM project.
The application derives automatically the outside diameter of the pipe (i.e. 4" bore= OD ~115)
But then you can put on your penetrated panel a fitting. And you can choose in a supplied library exactly the hole+sleeve you want and gives extra parameters.
So you can avoid creating a CATE for sleeves as AVEVA supply them as panel fittings.
Does it make sense to you?
I want that a normal component as a sleeve to attatch to it a geometry so when the sleeve is placed the hole manager utility reads the diameter and depth of the hole from the geometry attached to the sleeve. hope everything is clear now.
I have manage to do something like this. I had pick the panel with have to be penetrated, then i had choose the sleeve witch penetrate the panel. And then I selected a circular hole from the standard aveva library. The hole e had to place it and gave it the diameter manualy and I want the hole and the diameter to be placed automaticaly. About the parameters you are saying I don't know what you want to say.
