PDMS Draft too slow until goes not responding

Hi all,

We our currently working on a big project and PDMS 12.1.SP4 Draft Module slows down every time w GETWORK to the point that the application is no longer responding.
Our machines are high-end with 3.5GHz, 16Gb RAM and 64-bit, yet we still experiencing this.

Please help.

You should definitively contact Avevas local support for issues like this. It is possible that you will find someone who has experienced the same thing, but unless you report it to Aveva they may not even know about it!

Normally when the Project is quiet big, the whole Layout is divided into number of WBS (Work Breakdown Structure).
Each design and draft database are created WBS wise and different MDBs are created as per WBS.
By designing the Project in this manner the databases/MDB are distributed properly. There by speeding the GETWORK and UPDATING options.

By the way how is your project designed?

And also it depends on network capacity, number of users working on the project

It is a common problem while updating overall plant layout drawings etc.
Is your model having any step file import models??
UPDATE ALL IGNORE
this command helps to update fast as it neglects the elements having problems.

You say that it slows down every time you get work, is it OK again after you restart the application or restart the computer?

Hi, mattsn, yes it will be OK again after restarting. But it's tedious if we enter the PDMS everytime

Then I think you should talk to your local Aveva support!
