Satelite moved to another server howto update HOSTNAME

  • Hi,

I have a new server on wich the global deamon (sat) runs.
In the database ABCGLB is the location stored. I don't have write access to this database.
How do i change the hostname.
I can start pdms in ADMIN but when i try to start the deamon i get a error that a different hostname is expected.

  • Hi Marcel!

Do you have access to the hub or to the sat or both?

If you have access to the hub, change the server-name in hub-admin and copy the abcglb from hub abc000 to the sat-abc000.

If you have only access to the sat, there's no chance for you -> you have to contact the aministrator of the hub.
He has to change this setting.

Many greetings from austria to the netherlands
    Markus
  • Thanks Markus, i only have access to the Sat. I'll contact the Hub admin.
How are things in the beautiful country Austria?
  • Hi People,

We're experience a problem on the update. the DB is primary at SAT and if SAT do UPDATE DB it will failed and on the transaction message is "Update failure - database pages are not contiguous. Database may need recovering

Does anyone have tried to do these steps below?

    12.4 Recovering the Global Database
If for any reason the Global database at a Satellite becomes out of date, first try fixing the
problem by using DICE, the base product DataIntegrity Checker. If you cannot fix the
problem using DICE, the database at a Satellite can be recovered by the following
    procedure:

    1. Stop the Global daemon at the hub and at the satellite location.
    2. Inform all users, including the Administrator, at both the Satellite and the Hub to save
    work and exit their sessions.
    3. Physically copy the Global database (for example abcglb) from the hub to the satellite.
    4. Restart the daemons and allow users to start work again.
