Bolt spec with BSEL not working in 12.1

  • Ok, i did not had that in 12.0, but nvm, i deleted the BITLEN now and added the values to my Xtralength.
I want the nuts and washers in the same line in my material list as the bolt, that's why.

Still the problems i not solved... I dropped it at the Aveva helpdek now also...
  • I think I got it Bart.
My point of view is that BSEL selectors should be different for the same BTYP.
So in your Bolt Specification you should have only one BTYP (i.e. MACH) and then three BSEL (DEF, A and B)
So choosing A will give you the STU description, and choosing B will give you the TAP description.
It is probably a bit difficult to explain it here....
But since you have opened a S.I. now, I am sure you will be in contact with some colleague of mine.
  • At first: how do you know my real name???

.....working for Aveva I have access to the helpdesk.....sorry if I have used your real name here....

Good to know I have been helpful !
......and I hope you do not mind if Italy scored  right at the end of the match with Netherland last night !!!!  ;-)
  • Hi Corrado,

At first: how do you know my real name??? :nevreness: :tongue-new:

But this is it! I set all BTYP's to BOLT (Since BOLT for a Sudbolt looks to me more clear then MACH for a studbolt :tongue-new:) and now it is working like 12.0 again!

Great help, thanks for the effort!

NP at all, I already thought you get if from helpdesk data, I get an account from my dutch Aveva "ex-collegue" last friday when we updated to 12.1, and I thought: let's give it a try!

Aaaarch... :hororr: We have some German-problem here with goals in final minute... Now we also have an Italy-problem :blue:
  • I recently had a similar problem.
It was resolved by setting the spec DEFAULT for BSEL to =
  • [QUOTE=corrado;73751]But if you want to do that you need to give a value to BITEM attribute too.
So if you need two washers and two nuts...
    BITEMS NUT WASH WASH NUT
    BITLEN 20 2 2 20
    This is not strictly true.
You only need to include entries in BITEMS if you need to report them separately on the BOM and have included them in the Bolt Spec.

If Nuts & Washers are supplied with the Bolt, you can just include the length in BITLEN with no entry in BITEMS.

The number of entries in BITLEN does not have to match the number of entries in BITEMS

Good morning Pitch. You are right. I know.
Most of our italian customers wants to have washers and nuts included with bolts.
So we teach them to leave BITEMS and BITLEN unset.
And add the needed lengths (washers + nuts + extra ) all together in the XTRA attribute.

The number of entries in BITLEN does not have to match the number of entries in BITEMS

I was not aware of this. Thank you for the info. I think this is not the way it should work. I will try when I can.
  • I confirm it works both ways....

    You can have:

    BITEMS NUT WASH WASH NUT
    BITLEN 20 2 2 20

    and

    BITEMS NUT WASH WASH NUT
    BITLEN 44

    Good to know it...
  • I generally purchase Bolts inclusive of Nuts & Washers.
In my Catalogue I Leave BITEMS list empty and have a single entry in BITLEN to represent the total length of nuts and washers.
I use XTRA for the additional bolt run out (extra threads) which seems to vary from client to client.
So far (many years now) there have been no problems.

The statement about number of BITLEN & BITEMS is from the Isodraft User Guide PDMS 12.0 Sect 4.5.5
