• [QUOTE=osnabrr]I tried the earlier given setup options in a DOS box, but every time PDMS comes with an userinterface and questions to press a button.
I tried it on the 11.6SP3.6 service pack

Initiating setup.exe from a "DOS box" usually does not pass the parameters to the Microsoft Installer correctly. If you have to start it this way, you can try typing (do not type the single quotes) 'start ""
  • Hello osnabrr,

For the most part, it seems that Aveva uses the InstallShield installation software for its software setups.  InstallShield has command switches for recording user actions (like which folder to install into) and switches for silent mode (which uses the recorded responses).  I suggest that you contact Aveva support for guidance on the proper switches to use for silent installs that you desire.

    Have a Blessed Day!!
  • It is worth a support call - but I don't know what the answer will be. I know that some installers can be run unattended, but not all (it is complicated to set them up for it - the "response file" cannot say "If asked this question, say 'yes'", only "answer 'yes' to the next question, whatever it is". This means that if we make clever context-sensitive installers "I see you have CAESAR II installed, would you like to install PSI?" then it become impossible to create a universal response file.
