    Hello all,

Does anyone have already used PDMS over citrix? Does it actually work? I know the previous versions did not work with citrix but I've heard that the latest ones might.
    Thanks guys!

Yes, running both 12.0, 12.1 and E3D on Citrix. No issues at all (except slight hit in graphical performance). I can't tell anything regarding technical setup of Citrix itself, as I lack that knowledge :)

Nice, that's very good to know h3nrik! Is there anything else that I should consider before implementing this solution or it's pretty straight forward?
    Thanks.

    Hi,

Does the Citric has the advantage over the Global Module.

Right now we are using the Global for Model sync between cross office.

As we have minimal number of persons reviewing the model form our cross region office is it better to eliminate the global option for such projects and using citrix for such options.

    Dear All,

I would recommend to do a price comparison of both solutions, means:

    1. PDMS & Global
    2. PDMS via Citrix

You should also consider the graphical issues. Do a valuable Test with your users ( the best is all users from one location working at the same time). This will show you the size of your line connection to the other office beeing loaded with lots of traffic. I have evaluated this from both sides - as a user and as an Administrator. The outcome was as follows:

Citrix is no option at all considering the commercial point of view. With the Citrix configuration we have been offered, only four users were able to work in parallel on one server. And the price for these servers was reasonably high compared to the normal desktop machines. Means: I could purchase PDMS Global + more than four Workstations rather than buying a citrix server. Regardless the performance issues IMHO it's not worth thinking about - at least now.

Ask AVEVA about any reference clients. In Germany, there is hardly any.

Personally, from the administrative point of view I wouldn't be bothered, if PDMS is running on Citrix. Administrative Tasks are almost the same, only global administration (which is nearly nothing) is not needed.

We have made bright and good experience with PDMS Global. I would consider it as one of the best softwares of AVEVA's Portfolio. Running smooth, administration is easy and traffic is reduced between the offices.

    Regards,

    Hurricane

Also should be take into account conditions for using Global and Citrix. If you have remote workers from different countries - Citrix is only one instrument.
Global is a perfect tool for doing projects between many companies.
