PDMS is Opening in very slow for all?

Good Evening,

In my company PDMS is opening very very slow, while loading PDMS and when selecting create components from pipe work the problem is occuring, Recently server was shifted in our organisation from that this problem is started. Any help needed.

IT Department is telling it is a problem of PDMS, How to proceed..Is there any way to solve this issue.

Help Me..

There are many reasons behind PDMS opening / running slow.......

1. Check the db structural errors, and fix them by using Reconfig......

2. Is your computer have Good configuration means Config suggested by AVEVA.

3.Is your DB sizes are more thand 2 GB....??

4. Any Polyhedreon itemed components in your model...??


Check all and based on all these you can fix them......

Naresh, which pdms/fix version are you using? And which operating system?

1) Have you tried merging your database sessions?
2) Can you access the internet from your network?

projects with whole project size 50mb and project size 6gb also giving the same problems, no databases are size more than 1.5 gb, i think one or two databases omes to 1.5 gb in all projects, merging is not required in my view,

First thing I would check is that you have not added all your databases to the same MDB.  Create additional MDB's with only relavent DB's added for each construction area etc.  If you have all DB in one MDB then PDMS is having to load all DB elements before entering.

Do you have toppographical model in your project? If so put this in a DB of it's own and make it deferred in the MDB so the users can add it if they need it

    Any Idea how did you solved this issue...we too in the same boat !!! can you help pls..

We had a macro written long back which is for Blocking specs which are not used.

This macro causes lot of issues.Especially when we open pipework applications before the pipework application loading it will load spec window.After removing this function of blocking specs we can access PDMS Very Easily.

I don't know exactly in your case if project sizes is too much also it will open very slowly.Please check that may be we can do merging of databases in this case of large databases.

For PDMS Lower versions upto 11.6 2 GB is the limit for the db size.

For PDMS12.1.SP2 my superior told 4GB is the limit.Don't Know exact information on this.

Check out the problem where it is occuring.

Aveva prefers local installations of PDMS because of this slowdown issues.
