Searching

There are a number of types of searches that can be done due to the fact that the DriverWeb is a Forum based system.

Website Search : The following picture shows the Website Search dialog that is located in the Page Header. This search dialog is not recommend for use in searching the Forum system as it will navigate away from the Forums and will search the entire Website. It will not give as good results as the actual Forum Searches detailed below

Global Search : The following picture shows the Global Search drop-down that is located in the Forum Header (immediately below the Page Header). When opened, you may enter a word or phrase that will searched for throughout the entire Forum system, regardless of where you actually are

Forum Search : The following picture shows the "Search this Forum" drop-down that can be found in the top right corner of any of the Forum Thread List Displays. When opened, you may enter a word or phrase that will searched for throughout the Forum you are currently in AND any SubForums that it may contain

Thread Search : The following picture shows the "Search this Thread" drop-down that can be found in the top right corner of any of the actual Thread Post Displays. When opened, you may enter a word or phrase that will searched for throughout the current Thread. This can be particularly useful in locating a specific post in a very long Thread

Advanced Search : The above three pictures also have a link to take you directly to the "Advanced Search" page (see picture below) that allows you to control the search process in much greater detail by including conditions like the minimum number of replies, by specific forums, date ranges or even by the people who posted

The forum has a tree structure and by default the search will include SubForums. The following representation should illustrate how this works...

MyCitect Forum : Forum Search searches through the entire Forum system (Same as doing a Global Search)
DriverWeb : Forum Search searches through all the driver Forums (includes ALL SubForums)
Group ### : Forum Search searches only in the ### "Driver Group" section and its SubForums
Driver ### : Forum Search searches only the ### driver Forum
Thread ### : Thread Search searches only the ### Thread

You can search for anything, from a Manufacturers Name to a Driver Name or even the name of a Protocol Standard.

  • Subscribing

Thanks to the Forum system, it is now possible to subscribeto individual Forums or Threads so that you that are informed when any new piece of information is added to the Forum or the Thread. Subscriptions can be placed on both Forums and/or on individual threads, depending on what you need to be notified of

Forum Subscriptions : You can be notified when a New Thread is created or a New Reply is added to an existing Thread

Please note that subscriptions can be made in any open forums. This means you can subscribe for all updates on a Driver, the Driver Group or even DriverWeb as a whole.

    MyCitect Forum

DriverWeb : Get notified of any post anywhere in DriverWeb
Group ### : Get notified on any new post in this Group
Driver ### : Get notified of any new post for this specific Driver

Thread Subscriptions : You can be notified when a New Reply is added to an existing Thread

There are three types of subscriptions (see picture following)

Instant : You get an email notifying you that there is something new (Note : You will NOT receive another notification until after you have re-visited the Forum, so you will not be bombarded with emails)

Daily Updates : You get an email each day notifying you of any updates in the past 24 hours

Weekly Updates : You get an email each day notifying you of any updates in the past 7 days

To unsubscribe, you can choose the UnSubscribe option in the Forum Header (see picture below) and a list of all your subscriptions will be displayed. You can then select the ones you no longer want and chose the 'delete' option

If you are in the Forum or Thread you subscribed to and you no longer want that subscription, you can go to the same menu you used to "Subscribe..." and you will find that it is now "Unsubscribe ..."
