Tag Reading Kit

Used to verify all tags in a Citect project.
This tool is recommended to be used as a commissioning tool. As all tags are read, it is possible you may exceed your license count, which could result in CitectSCADA shutdown!

Version
v1.02 - Revised to include v7 support. Note some cluster senarios have not been tested yet with this kit.

Requirements
From CitectSCADA v5.21 onwards

Description
UPDATED: 16 September 2003
This version has been updated to run faster when CitectSCADA returns errors on reading tags.

This project will read all TAGs configured in your project one at a time, without blocking1. This is particularly useful for TAG based drivers as the compiler does not pick invalid field TAGs up. Its intended use is to verify your TAGs prior to doing more ambitious tasks in CitectSCADA. This should be the first check before you assume some fault exists in a driver.

The log file produced can have the data values for all tags as well as flagging the tags with errors.

The ZIP contains a readme with more information.

1Digital tags will always have byte or word blocking

  • This is a great tool, It helped us clean up a lot of legacy tags, It found typos in tags, out or range variables, Invalid I/O addresses. Because it tests every tag it may go over your license count. I integrated it into our main project to avoid the include setting. The one thing that should be added is a warning that "Tag Point Exceeded" Citect will shut down. Adding CitectInfo("General","General","29") to the screen will show tag usage and you can monitor it. Citect shut down on me 5 minutes after the Tag Test because I exceeded the license tag count and I shut the entire plant down not knowing it. DavidFRickert@Aol.com
