We have multiple sites with VSAT connections only. We are currently pulling around 300 data points per site into PI. We want to increase this to around 1k - 1.5k datapoints per location. There will be around 400-500 sites. The problem is, we are afraid it will saturate our bandwidth and shut down data. Currently the data is polling around 10 second intervals. We want to increase this to 1 second, which will put an even higher load on the system. Our SCADA system is polling using MODBUS/TCP and this newer data will need to come straight to PI and not through SCADA.
Does anyone have a suggestion on a protocol to use or devices to use to get the data back to PI in 1 second intervals without saturating the system?
