Aveva Marine Outfitting- Sketching mode!,Aveva Marine Outfitting- Sketching mode!

  • Hi everyone!
I'm new in Aveva enviroment, and thing that overwhelms me, is lack of sketching mode in 2019. For someone using Inventor, Solidworks and so on, lack of such basic feature in Outfitting module, where we model foundations, rallings and so on is just unintelligible! Things, such as modeling single plate with trapezoidal holes, which in inventor takes 2-3 minutes, in PDMS/Outfitting takes half an hour! Is it possible to at least write an addin for extruding and revolving things, or the only way to create plates, cylinders and so on is to enter coordinates by hand? xD Aveva takes a lot of money for software, which in functionalities in many cases is still in max. early 80'... Remember, even damn Hypermesh or Femap have sketching mode :miserable:

    Dear hdom,
the answer is in your post itself.
    You mentioned Inventor and Solidworks.
    They are so-called "Mechanical" CAD.
As well as Catia, Creo etc etc.
Sketching, extruding and revolving things is their job.
    PDMS/Outfitting is something different.
I call it "plant/ship layout" CAD.
You create and position "things" coming from a library.

    regarding "early 80's"...

Have you tried or are you aware of Aveva Everything 3D?
