Dear friends,
I wish to create backing sheet for piping GAD extracted from draft.I have auticad sheet & i ahve converted to .plt ,also but i dnt know how to import this sheet into pdms.
please help me its urgent.
Perhaps some of the real guru's could comment on this and maybe make it a sticky once we have a definitive version.
It obviously sits on the shoulders of what has gone before - thanks guys i'm not trying to push all of your ideas as my own - all i've done is hopefully made it AutoCAD version tolerant going forward.
This is predominantly command line based because AutoDesk do keep changing the menu structure between versions making things difficult to find.
To convert AutoCAD borders to Draft
from the ACAD command line type in APPLOAD
A form will pop up, navigate to C:\Aveva\Plant\PDMS12.1.SP2\AutoDRAFTACAD and select all six lsp files these being as follows
Once selected click on the load button and close the form down. The directory will vary dependent upon the version of PDMS you are using but the changes should be self evident.
Load the appropriate drawing border into AutoCAD and type the command EXPLODE ALL
Now type in PDMS_SHEET ALL on the Command Line
A series of questions will be asked and they will obviously change depending upon your requirements.
Hello randalf.....thanks for the info. Just letting you know I tried this with AutoCAD 2014 and it doesn't work. Well, at least it won't load any of the pdms lisp routines. Still investigating why, assuming it has to do with the lisp files not being compatible with AutoCAD 2014. Or maybe I'll discover there's a new and better way of creating backing sheets.....I'm still learning.
