procedure to create draft backing sheet

That could be a problem going forward.

I've not got AutoCAD14 to confirm your findings, just the 2013 version, which would appear to work fine on the AutoCAD segment.

I'd suggest that this one might be worth putting a request into Aveva on Pivotal as it's likely to affect us all within the next couple of years unless there is a better way of importing backing sheets into Draft on 12.1 or later.

    Please post your findings.
  • [QUOTE=randalf72;80890]looking at the macro created by the lisp routine you would probably need to create the library/sheet structure in draft prior to loading in the macro.

Another reason to submit the procedure to the community to find out the real world problems :)

You set the "Draft Sheet Library Name

    Hello randalf

We'll be getting 12.1.SP4 shortly. Reading thru the documentation for this release, it states "AutoDRAFT" supports 2007, 2008, 2009, 2010.
I'll try it with 2014 again once we install SP4 and let you know how it goes.
I'm still new and learning PDMS day by day. It could be something I'm not doing correctly, or it might just be the way it is.
To be honest, I don't know if we will even need to use AutoDRAFT. But I was hoping to use it to at least create backing sheets for DRAFT and ISODRAFT.
  • I'm a bit old school on things like this. Typically I'd use the routines to create backing sheets for Draft from AutoCAD and the plot command to generate .plt files for IsoDraft.

I've not yet found an Aveva package that gets anywhere near AutoCAD in terms of producing and editing backing sheets/borders.

I guess it would be beneficial if some of the guru's on here tried the routine on AutoCAD 2014 and confirmed MelC's findings.
  • AutoCAD 2014 issue solved.

AutoCAD 2014 uses a new security scheme. You need to add the location of the PDMS .lsp files to the "Trusted Locations". You will find this under AutoCAD "options", "files" tab.
Best practice would be to have the locations you add to "Trusted Locations" to be "read only", but that's optional.

Once you do this, you can use "appload" to load all the PDMS lsp files, and live happily ever after.
  • Hi everybody,

I want to creat a new drawing template for spools, but I'm stuck. I've created the backing sheet in Autocad, imported it in Aveva. No problems until here.
To create a drawing template I have copied a A4 template created by Aveva and tried to modify it, but no success when I have to set the bsrf (backing sheet reference)

    Thanks in advance!!
