• I've just been handed a specification to put into PDMS and this is a mix of metric OD tubing/components and NB fittings as well as a selection of adaptors that convert the OD stuff to NB sizes.

I've never seen a particularly clean way of doing this within PDMS and was wondering if there were any examples of this type of spec that anyone would be willing to share or offer advice on?
  • I am sorry I have no example to show you.
But I have a customer here in Italy that is dealing daily with that kind of tubing/piping spec.
They managed to do it by adding new nominal bores in Paragon (NBRWLD)
So for example the adaptor you were mentioning would have an arrive bore of DN25 (1 inch) and a leave bore of "dummy" DN21 (that means 21.3 OD)
    Hope this helps
  • Thanks Corrado,

I've always found that a bit messy and was wondering if there was any better method.

The specific issue I have is that the written specification calls for tubing/fittings with ODs of 6mm, 10mm and 12mm as well as NB pipe work at sizes 6mm, 8mm, 10mm & 15mm which gives me two clashes where the OD size is named the same as the NB despite there being a small physical difference in size and I was wondering if there was a better way of managing it that is less confusing for the designers.

As the majority of specs use the NB convention I'm very reluctant to change the NBRworld in a way that impacts on the NB components but can't come up with a sensible way to control the OD components within the same project.
