For example:
- I do "run PDMS" and Aveva PDMS Console window appears.
- Program is "stopping" at the message: "running %path\mon graphics" for a long period of time with no process activity.
- PDMS login windows appears after 2-4 minutes.
- After the selection of project, user, password, MDB and module, it takes a lot of time (about the same as above) to open the application
- The same problem i have when i want to switch between modules.
Sometimes entering in PDMS is working slow in all computers, but everytime for only 3 workstations.
For the 3 computers mentioned above is always, for the rest is after a long period of inactivity of PDMS.
The maximum network utilisation percentage for start of PDMS and switching between modules, on slow workstation is 2-2.5%, and for the faster workstation and for server is 0.5%.
There are no differences between workstations.
Can someone tell me if this problem is related to the software, or maybe is only a hardware problem? May be related to network communication with the license server?
Thanks!
network issue may be a cause
each db size should be less than 2gb
proper ram should be installed
dont open more applications while running pdms
c drive space should be more

The above steps i read from forum only real causes u have to ask pdms gurus corrado,Tback,Pitch,Coodo Austin and others
Just a question.
Is the software installed on the individual machines or are the designers accessing it on a server? If it's on a server then you will have network traffic issues.
(This was one way of using the software earlier, but has been abandoned for the most part.)
If you have followed the system requirements listed by AVEVA, then it should run more or less problem free.
Is this a problem for all users or just a few? (E.g. just the people on a particular floor) Again this would suggest network issues. Faulty ports in switches?
I have a (DRAFT) MDB that takes a while to get started, but this is due the number of DB's and related files that need to be read, but I'm talking seconds (not minutes) when compared to entering the design MDB.
I also facing the same froblem here. Here we are access the project from the server and licenses also from server. My friend is also telling that ''your network is having problem".
I informed to IT people but they are telling notwork is comming is properly.
Good morning,
It's common praactice to have both the project and the license server on separate machines.
AVEVA Plant is fairly heavy (or was) regarding I/O to and from the server, but there is nothing you can do much about that.
The last part of this is the actual software and any customisation that has been done by yourselves. You can easily find out where you are accessing the software from if you write (in a Command Window) q evar pdmsexe or q evar pmllib.
If the first element in the path is something other than a drive on your machine, then potentially you can experience network traffic issues.
Once last thing that came to mind is the content of the databases themselves. If you created elements that contain a lot of POHE and POLYHE elements than this can give you some serious response issues. Whether this affects startup or not, I'm not quite sure. It will affect manipulation and updating of the graphics.
When it comes to checking the ports and switches, then you'll have to get the IT department to talk with someone that has knowledhe about hardware.
