Can someone give a general explanation on the difference between old bolting and new bolting. If I want to use new bolting method do I need to rebuild my flanges in the catalogue. I have one project using old bolting and a new project using new bolting. Can I reference the flanges in the catalogue that are in the spec for old bolting. Apologies, hopefully I have made sense.
There's a guide posted on bolting: http://52.178.132.139/showthread.php?t=7362
If by rebuilding you mean you need to remodel your catalog then answer is no. The method of referencing information changes as the bolting method changes.
You can make use of previous SBOL & BLTAs.
In case of new bolting method, you will have to set BLRF attribute on flanged component SCOMs which will point to BTSE.
You will also have to create Bolting Specs. Once preparation of Bolting spec is finished then on the main Pipespec set BLTM attribute to NEW and point Bspec to the Bolting Spec created.
New Bolting preparation work may seem little longer but in longer run it will save you time.
Caution: You might be aware of this. You can have specs using OLD bolting and NEW bolting in the same project but in design a branch should not use mix components which are using different bolting method. Isometric doesn't run successfully in such cases.
It'd depend on how you are planning catalogs in general.
If you are planning to make dataset or planning to keep Bolting thickness on a specific parameter then you can create BTSE in separate hierarchy. Then you can set BTHK parameter to expression like PARA 5 or PROP BTHK
But if this is difficult and the information is at varied places then you will have to use BTSE under CATE concept. This is easier to copy from Project to Project if you need to.
Also you can make use of Noff attribute on BTSE. It may not be necessary to make BLTPs in all cases.
Thanks for the info guys. I have the bolts in now, however, they don't seem to be rounding up as per the tables. Bolt lengths are 51mm long and should be 55mm long. Will be investigating this after lunch
I have finally got the bolts working, even hydrotension and isolation using the BSEL option. One question for the experts do you think it's wise to have 2 different bolt tables in the corporate catalogue. Or just have one as the attributes are different for new bolting and old bolting?
Thanks again.
How do you use them in projects? Do you mean itemcode attribute or any other attribute which you have kept different? Same BLTA will be fine as long as the same lengths are being referred and omitted.
What I mean is that I have a BLTA for old bolting in the corporate catalogue and as the attributes within this are different for old bolting and new bolting, I can continue using this for old bolting and new bolting.
