I was asked to do this years ago when we first started using PDMS in the office (95). It was a pain in the butt as you have to have a symbol for each SCTN type and different orientation. For examle, for an H shape you would need a profile along the axis (like a column in plan view), a profile flanges head on, and a profile web head on (assuming that you don't have to show any other bangs!).  Just remember that you can do a lot of axis flipping of symbols by using the xyscale with negative values and the Degree attribute.

In my case I convinced them to accept line representation for plans and universal hidden for elevations/sections

I've heard this has been achieved with geometry created in Cats & Specs...

You have to take into account levels...what you want to see in draft isn't how you wish to see it in Design...

    Cheers

No problem.  The documentation is incomplete nor is it supported by AVEVA.

I managed to achieve this without connecting steel, which will save time for our designers.

I created a new LPICTURE in the DRA-GEN-LINDEF file:

    LPICTURE 21 MODE 6 SIZE 25 GAP 10

Then the new PLOT and DEV pens:

    PLOTPEN 195 Colour 1 SOLID LTHICK 4 LPICTURE 21
    DEVPEN 195 Colour 5 SOLID LTHICK 4 LPICTURE 21

Next in your STYLE change the MLNpen to 195

You can model steel member-line to member-line, except when framing into a column they should be cut-back to the web or flange.

Could this be the reason to leave out the "appuserdef.pmlobj' file described in the doc file?
