Has anyone experienced a scale issue when plotting Draft drawings via Plotviewer 1.0.1 or 2.1? We have not typically used Plotviewer, but rather submit (copy) the plotfile directly to the plotter (scael is dead on). We have been doing some testing related to PDFs and Plotviewer and discovered that Plotviewer plots are typically out of scale by 3", 4" and in some cases 6".  Thanks - gdw

Plotviewer adds a margin around the plot, so when you print it through Plotviewer it will actually shrink the drawing to fit inside the printer margins.

I did not find any place to set margins to 0.

We do not use this Plotviewer application at our office, so I have to admit that there might be features I am unaware about.

Thanks TBack. Intresting "feature". It would seem to me that this is a problem, especially when issuing a contract document and it's not to scale. There are many options provided, particuarly when it comes to adjusting the plot. Thanks for the input. - gdw

I suppose you might get it to work if you make the drawings smaller in Draft, to cope with the margin added in Plotviewer(just an idea).

I haven't tried, but if you feel lucky, give it a shot.

What about different line thicknesses? Can you control them also through Plotviewer, or will all lines get the same weight?

Can anyone help me with regards to plotting. I have no idea how the plotting works in PDMS. It appears that can't just hit the print button like in most programs.

Where do actually print from ? Inside Draft ? Is it off the menu and if so whereabouts ? How do you tell it which soft driver to use and does it print directly to the printer ?

    Thanks

If you are using 11.6 there is a plot directory in your PDMS installation folder. There you will find plotserv.exe use this to plot. You create a plot file in draft and with plotserv you can plot it.

In draft, under utility -> Plot CE and it will generate a .plt format file in your PDMSuser directory.  This is Aveva's own format, and you will need PDMS plotviewer.exe under ..\plot directory to open this file.  ie if you produce .plt format files, it can only be viewed/opened via Aveva supplied plotviewer.exe.  In that plot folder, there is also a plotserv.exe which is a VB script that does sth similar to AutoCAD's batch plotting.

    OK

One other thing, how do you tell it which soft driver to use when creating the .plt file ?

    Thanks
